About the Watch
The Tourist brand was produced by the Ad. Allemann Son Watch Factory of Welschenrohr, Switzerland, in the 1950s. One important product was the Tourist Everlight, the first wrist watch with an integrated electric light. It included an incandescent lamp bulb at 12 00 that could shine on the dial. A plastic ring helped distribute the light around the dial. The battery was charged using a port at 2 00, above the crown. Another novel Tourist model was the 1962 Tourist Radio-Top which included dead beat central seconds. Tourist also created a dual movement dual time watch in the 1960s. The brand does not appear to have lasted past the 1960s.
About the Brand
The fluted bezel was first seen on the Rolex Oyster which was released in 1926. This watch was the first waterproof wristwatch, and this was made possible thanks to the Oyster case structure which hermetically sealed the case. This type of clasp is also used in this watch.
