About the Watch
This watch is very reminiscent of a famous model of Rolex. The Rolex Coke has been a favorite of pilots and world travelers since its introduction in 1982. In fact, the very first GMT-Master II that Rolex brought to market belongs to the Coke family. The original bears the reference number 16760, and its most distinctive feature is its black and red bezel. This color combination reminded people of a Coca-Cola can, and fans were quick to nickname this GMT-Master the "Rolex Coke."
About the Brand
The Wakmann Watch Co. was founded in New York in 1946 by Icko Wakmann and was located at 452 Fifth Avenue. The Wakmann Watch Co. was mainly specialized in the import of luxury watches. Among others, they also imported Relide and Breitling. The origin of Relide is obscure and is nearly impossible to find. It is assumed that a larger Swiss watch manufacturer founded this company for the American market. In Europe, the brand seems to have been hardly existent.
